Milled Flax Seed – 20,000 mgs per scoop: Flax seeds are a natural source of omega 3 fatty acid (alpha-linolenic Acid (ALA). This essential fatty acid helps maintain healthy skin and coat.
Natural Vitamin E (d-alpha-tocopherol) – 700 IU’s per scoop: Vitamin E improves heart function, enhances the immune system, and acts as a potent antioxidant, as well as an anti-inflammatory. Vitamin E is very important to the diet, for its free radical scavenging properties. Free radicals are produced in higher quantities during times of stress, such as heavy exercise, illness or injury, and beneficial for the prevention of tying up. Horses need Vitamin E in their diet because they cannot synthesize it endogenously in their body.
Vitamin C – 1000 mgs per scoop: Supports the immune system. During peak performance, illness and recovery, the body may require more Vitamin C than is naturally produced in the liver. In addition to being a potent antioxidant, Vitamin C attacks damaging free radicals produced naturally within the body during oxidation and inflammation. It contributes to wound healing, maintenance of capillaries, bones, teeth and absorption of iron, and helps in the formation of collagen.
Quercetin – 200 mgs per scoop: Quercetin is a bioflavonoid that has been shown to reduce inflammation, and aid to reduce the body’s response to histamines, which is very beneficial in treating allergies for both airborne and environmental causes, such as insect bites, grasses and pollens. Its antihistamine effect can reduce itching, runny noses, watery eyes, and hives. It can also be very beneficial to help horses that suffer from sweet itch.
Nettle – 10,000 mgs per scoop: Nettle has very powerful antihistamine properties, and can help reduce itching, watery eyes and runny nose. It naturally contains Vitamin C, iron, sodium, Chlorophyll, protein and dietary fiber. Nettles stimulate circulation, therefore ideal for allergies, laminitis and arthritis.
Milk Thistle – 10,000 mgs per scoop: Milk thistle supports liver and kidney health, enhances digestion, boosts the immune system, and acts as a powerful liver detoxifier. Milk thistle can also promote skin health. Compounds found in milk thistle may inhibit immune over-reactions that are common in horses with allergies, and can offer relief from seasonal allergies, or horses suffering from sweet itch.
**For severe allergies, it is recommended to feed additional Quercetin.**
Ingredients per scoop: Milled Flax Seed 20,000 mgs, Natural Vitamin E (d-alpha-tocopherol) 700 IU’s, Vitamin C 1000 mgs, Quercetin 200 mgs, Stinging Nettle 10,000 grams, Milk Thistle 10,000 mgs
Recommended Serving: 1-2 scoops daily (43 grams per scoop). For severe allergies, feed 2 times per day, AM & PM.
